Samuel E. Abrams is the director of the National Center for the Study of Privatization in Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. He was previously a high school teacher of economics and history for 18 years. Abrams was born in Athens, Greece, where his father was stationed as a medical officer in the U.S. Air Force, and raised in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He earned his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
