Rose LaCroix

I was born in Oklahoma City, OK in 1984, the first child of an artist and an Air Force NCO. My earliest memories are of Torrejon de Ardoz, spain and I grew up in South Carolina. By age 18 I had already traveled and lived more than many people do in 36 years.

I've been writing since I was about seven, though I didn't really get serious about it until several teachers in high school encouraged me to develop my skills.

I currently live in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon with my fiance, singer-songwriter Kobi LaCroix (of Dementia Radio fame) and our two cats. I hold a BA in social sciences from Portland State University and intend to start work on a master's degree in medieval history next year.

After a number of false starts in the early 2000s, I began writing my first novel, "The Goldenlea," while living in London in 2003 and made a promise to myself that I would finish and publish that novel no matter how long it took. The dream came true in 2013, but by then I had already written two more novels and published one.

My first published work, "Basecraft Cirrostratus" (2010) was nominated for an Ursa Major award for anthropomorphic fiction and a Rainbow award for LGBT fiction.

My third book, "Escape from St. Arned" (2014) is a sequel to "Basecraft Cirrostratus."

My fourth book, "The Vimana Incident," is a science fiction novel with Gnostic and psychedelic themes and was written as an homage to Philip K. Dick.

My upcoming novel, "The Linen Butterfly" (2016?) fills the gap between "Escape from St. Arned" and "The vimana Incident." Together with my other two books these form a five-volume metanovel called the Occidentania Cycle.
