A graduate in social science, Mike Knowles was born and educated in the North East of England. In 1966 he joined Durham Police as a cadet and spent twenty-five years on Tyneside climbing to a senior rank in the CID. After his police career, he moved into private security with the London based office of a renowned American detective agency. Now retired, he lives with his wife in Spain where he spends most of his time indulging his passion for writing.
CLOGGER OF THE YARD was Mike's debut novel. First published in 2004 - then again in 2015 as a Vistaclara Paperback - it's based on hilarious anecdotal material, mentally stored from his days in the police service. Having enjoyed some success at his first attempt, in his last three books - BOROUGH MEN, LAST OF THE BOROUGH MEN and BLACKJACKED - Mike has developed a penchant for fast-moving detective stories, peppered with incidents of malpractice and procedural manipulation. The sequel to BLACKJACKED is due out early next year.
