If anyone told me while I was in high school that I would be an author in twenty-seven years from then, I would have laughed in his face. After all, I only wanted to complete my English assignments, so I could go watch either a television show or a Los Angeles Dodger baseball game.
While attending Pasadena City College, I developed a keen interest in twentieth-century American history. After my graduation, I decided to be a baseball journalist, writing mainly editorials about the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2001, Major League Baseball Advanced Media hired me to write about my favorite team. Since then, I have branched out to write about other teams. I quit writing for Major League Baseball Advanced Media in March 2018, but I still write about my favorite team at https://sarahdodgerplace.biz. My biggest professional thrill before publishing my first novel was covering the San Francisco Giants throughout their world championships in 2012 and 2014. I hope someday I will cover the Dodgers in the World Series.
Becoming a baseball journalist didn’t leave much time for watching television shows. In 2011, I discovered Amazon Prime Video had Scarecrow and Mrs. King, a television series from 1983 to 1987. While I waited for the Dodger game, I often watched an episode. For some reason, it captured my imagination, and I began developing a plot.
I never had written fiction before. Many people were trying to encourage me to write a memoir since they think my life is interesting. I don’t like writing about myself. I decided to write a novel instead. I love doing it since I could blend my interest in twentieth-century America with my love of writing. I hope I have developed memorable characters that my readers will want to follow in ten books.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I researched the 1918 Spanish influenza and decided to write a historical novel about the period.

Currently, I am working on a novel about the roaring 1920s.
I wish I could go back in time and tell my high school teachers that I was doing job training while watching both Dodger games and television. In my free time, I enjoy watching Amazon Instant Video and YouTube. Now I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming with my black dog Colleen. I love French bulldogs.
