Everyone is a memoir writer, as far as I know, even people who don't write. The autobiography is always in it somewhere. Unfortunately, too many solid efforts refuse to mature sufficiently. They may stay adolescent and needy and abandoned, under the kitchen sink. Some will be lost on a train. Some of us are inclined to be careless and impulsive, and too big for our britches. We may think we need this kind of self-trashing. Writing it turns out, is a thinking technique. I have to go over the words again and again, to find my way to my particular auto-focus, somewhere between the words. Being thrifty and playful, is my way to play scales, on my thinking instrument. Where are these words taking me today? Is the way I'm seeing today, as odd and right and true, as I like it? The most important part is loving, and being loved by those who inspire us, and continually bring us the love we give. Being inspired like this, makes for a fortunate life, in anybody's books.
