Children's literature has been a passion of mine for many years. It started when I was a K-12 school librarian. That's right, it started when I was an adult instead of when I was a child. After going through the Elementary Education program at Multnomah University in Portland, OR, I realized how much potential children's books have for teaching students simple and complex concepts. As I would see new and old children's books coming and going through the library, I would notice how captivating the colors and pictures were. I would notice the wonderful stories that captured the students' attention. Why not take something children already enjoy and find a way to add an educational spin to it? Thus began the journey of developing my first children's book, Mr. Fact and Miss Opinion. This book tells a story of two unlikely neighbors and their journey to becoming friends, all while teaching students the difference between fact and opinion. Look for more educational children's literature that makes learning feel like play!
