Ruth Shilling

Ruth Shilling, M.M., has had a number of different careers and interests. All her activities, including videos, interviews, Egypt tours, blogs, and workshops, are linked at ruthshilling.com.

Beginning as a professional musician Ruth studied and played in orchestras in Europe for five years. Upon returning to the USA, she completed a masters degree in viola performance and served as the principal viola for the New London Connecticut ECSO for 17 years. She was also a member of the Trillium Trio, the Hop River Chamber Players, and the Minoan Quartet. She taught violin, viola and chamber music for more than 30 years at the University of Connecticut CSA.

Ruth's interest in healing began in 1988 with Therapeutic Touch, studying with Janet McCrae (Therapeutic Touch: A Practical Guide) and Dora Kunz (The Spiritual Dimension of Therapeutic Touch). Sound healing was added to this and soon she was giving workshops throughout the USA and Canada that combined hands-on healing, sound, personal growth and spiritual attunement. In 1996 Ruth visited Egypt and since then has guided more than 50 tours of Egypt and Jordan with her All One World Egypt Tours company. Additional info at 1worldtours.com.

Researching the gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt brought her to the Serabit Hathor Temple in South Sinai. This became the first of more than 20 retreats in the vastness of the varied desert landscapes there. It was during these retreats that the photos were taken for SINAI: The Desert & Bedouins of South Sinai's Central Regions. At present Ruth resides in her home state of Rhode Island where she enjoys walking on Narragansett Beach.
