Alicia C. Mattern

Alicia started drawing at the early age of four with help from her big brother who was an exceptional artist. Her favorite character was Garfield and used that as her foundation for cartooning. She drew many different cartoon characters growing up and Art was her main course of study throughout high school and college; she was also a set designer for both drama departments. Alicia graduated Magna Cum Laude and College Fellow in Fine Arts (Studio Art Concentration) at Jamestown College, North Dakota; Minors in Business Administration and Information Technology. Alicia currently works as a graphic artist for a local sticker company and freelances out of her home. Furthermore, Alicia has worked with local production companies and photographers working as a model, special makeup effects artist and photo editor and she has walked the fashion runway.

Alicia knows first hand what it feels like to be bullied since childhood. When her late best friend, Sean Kollman, wrote a book titled "Timmy the Fish" 15 years ago and asked Alicia to illustrate it, she jumped at the opportunity because it was a book based on bullying for younger readers. Little did she know that this would be the start of what is now her life calling - to help put an end to bullying.
