Ryan Guth

Ryan Guth holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from the University of Cincinnati, where he studied with poets Andrew Hudgins and Don Bogen. A professor of English at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tennessee, he is the author of Home Truths, a collection of individual short pieces in verse and prose that probe a long-standing conflict between his father and his mother’s family. He has also published individual poems in journals such as Lummox, Iron Horse, Bryant Literary Review, and Third Coast Review. Currently he is at work on another mixed-genre collection, this time focusing on daily life, shifting family allegiances, and economic necessities in the famous Bronte household, circa 1845–1850. He and his wife Elizabeth have been married for thirty-three years and counting; together they have one son, Spencer. Terminally addicted to classical music, the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe, and the writings of James Joyce, he notes that writing is like one of his senses: he uses it to connect with the world around him.
