Adam Wilderness

Adam Wilderness could have been born in Liverpool, back in the twentieth century. He was educated, after a haphazard fashion, at a strange English grammar school and Cambridge University, which gave him a sloth’s eye view of life.

In addition to more humdrum jobs in the hotel industry, Adam has been so far in his time a tramp, a beggar, a fairground fortune teller, a Punch and Judy show proprietor, and a writer. Producing novels and stories probably requires some talent for each of these absorbing trades.

Adam often writes in a secluded corner of the Somerset Levels with inspiring views of Glastonbury Tor from his study, a rickety summer-house full of quarrelsome chickens. Much of his work is, however, penned under canvas in remote woodland near Porlock.

His modern urban fiction is set mainly in England. It features bohemians, beggars and lucky losers. Expect the occasional dash of magical realism, mild horror and against-the-odds love.

Like neutrinos, tabloids and fast food, Adam Wilderness leaves few traces on those whose lives he passes through. Seek him out, if ever you can, in soup kitchen or homeless shelter, bedsit or safely inconspicuous green bivouac. The first to discover him will receive a signed paper bearing next year’s winning lottery numbers.
