Jane Carlile Baker

This red-letter year, 2025, the hubs, AKA Bake, and I coauthored our first book, Scarred Hands, Search & Rescue for Abuse Survivors. In this day, just about everyone has been abused somehow. Ours started in childhood. We've spent decades looking for spiritual and scientific methods for recovery. Most of them are included in Scarred Hands. Check it out. If it helps you, please leave a review.

Before Scarred Hands, my Scotch-Irish American roots drew me to roam Ireland first in search of Nellie Cashman's generosity and integrity and then Quinn and Fallon O'Sullivan's family history for the Seascape series. But I also discovered the mystery, magic and beauty of my homeland. My first novel, Rogue Wave, began the Seascape Saga, and Rogue Irishman, my third novel; continues the series. In 2026-7, I'll finish the Seascape stories with Rogue Voice. Keep an eye out.

I've published four biographies. Toughnut Angel, about the real-life heroine, Nellie Cashman, won a Frazier award. My father-in-law's account of his slavery as a POW of the Japanese during WWII is called Triumphs and Tragedies, and introduced me, after decades of knowing him, to this unsung hero. I also co-authored a guide to walking with God through the Covid pandemic and his biography, a history of the Civil Rights movement, with my friend Charlie Crane.

Queen of the Third Grade, my second novel, compiled from my own experience, explores elementary education in California and what it means to teach in truth and grace. Enter Jane Carlile Baker when you look for these books - there are a lot of Jane Bakers.

I've lived in the same house in California for forty+ years with Art, my marriage and family therapist husband, Aime the sweet Cavapoo, and four soft, doe-eyed alpacas, Mocha, Sunshine, Felicia, and Betty. We have three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. I am a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for foster kids, support immigrants through World Relief, co-lead a community group for my church, am in training to become a UCCE Master Gardener, and enjoy swimming, and oil painting. Oh, and I also love to write.
