Mark R. Harris was born in Kentucky, moved to New Jersey, and went to college in Pennsylvania. He holds a Ph.D. in English from Lehigh University. He teaches American literature, Shakespeare, postmodern literature, and writing in Virginia, where he lives with his wife and sons. His articles on Borges, Hawthorne, and Twain’s fiction have appeared in Studies in Short Fiction, Cithara, and Contra Mundum, and his poems have appeared in Moore Street Review, Nantahala Review, and Euphony. Fire in the Bones is his first novel.
