Having graduated from Florida State with degrees in Computer Science and Music Composition, Marc S. Kruza's interests range from writing novels to writing computer programs, and from singing in church to playing in a local rock band. He loves beaches, mountains, surfing and hiking... and writing about them.
His article Staying By His Side, an essay recounting a fun yet unexpectedly scary day with his grandfather at Busch Gardens, appeared in Chicken Soup For The Soul Just For Preteens, an anthology of encouraging stories about that tumultuous time of youth.
His first novel, How the Kook Found His Cool, is a graphic novel within a young adult novel... a novel creation! The main character Matt,a multi-talented high school freshman, creates his own science-fiction graphic novel to escape and explain his own tumultuous and lonely high school freshman universe. In the real world, there are swirlies, bullies and surfers. In his graphic novel dystopia, there are black holes, alien death-match thugs and fish-people. As he navigates both worlds, he adapts to new situations, makes new and different friends, and helps conquer some tricky school-wide problems.
