Ali Kinteh

Ali Kinteh was born and raised in Leyton, London.

His debut novel "The Nepenthe Park Chronicles," published in 2016 by Rogue Press, is a gloriously subversive coming-of-age tale set on one of London's most deprived kitchen sink estates. Young adults face violence and trauma, outside and within themselves, which threaten their futures and their lives. Ali writes in an incendiary and brazen manner. He walks a path that both angels and devils fear to tread. This book is certainly not for the fainthearted.

His second book "Essays From The Hermit's Lodge," published in 2022, are a collection of nineteen essays, underpinning his growing reputation as a polemicist and contrarian. Remarkable pieces on actors Yul Brynner, John Hurt and Amitabh Bachchan, playwrights John Osbourne and Lorraine Hansberry, plus explorations on social media, freedom of speech and hip-hop are included in this exceptional work.

A forthcoming novel "Honorable Men Are Dead" will be published in December 2025. The protaganist Dean Anthony is enjoying the trappings of Metropolitan London as an English literature professor. His obsession with adult star Lily Wenzler, however, imperils his family and career.

Ali is also a film director. He wrote and directed "Kevin & Cassandra," a neo-noir feature film about a married couple dealing with the trauma of losing their only child. "Kevin & Cassandra" will be a fixture in the film festival season in 2025.

Two of his films "Itchy Eyeball" and "Elixir" are both in the prisms of preproduction.

Ali has an acute interest in literature, mythology, history, religious scriptures and their foundational texts.

Ali is a supporter of Everton Football Club. He finds ethereal bliss in books, solitude and cigars.
