Bob Newell

Bob Newell is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a retired electrical engineer, but his technical career didn't prevent him from having a lifelong obsession with Jane Austen.

Bob is a founding member and the Regional Coordinator of the Hawai`i Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA), writes a widely-read blog about the game of checkers, directs scholastic chess tournaments and judges at scholastic debate competitions in Honolulu,

and leads an elite writers' critique group, the Waikiki Word Wranglers. He also has an interest in foreign language and speaks numerous languages and dialects.

Bob returned to fiction writing after a long hiatus. He's published various Hawaiian-themed stories in local anthologies. Courting Jane is his first novel.

Bob lives in the Waikiki district of Honolulu in a high-rise condo with a spectacular 30th-floor view of the Ko`olau Mountains. Bob has several additional novels in the works.
