I am a writer, editor and producer with a flair for the culinary arts and interior design.
My recent book, Brooklyn Interiors (Rizzoli), represents what I love most about the writing process: documenting the way people live and what they chose to surround themselves with to create a portrait of their personality.
I’ve ghostwritten more than 25 books, most recently the critically acclaimed Olives, Lemons and Za’atar (Kyle Books) by Rawia Bishara and Live to Eat (Little, Brown) by Michelin-starred chef Michael Psilakis. I’ve authored three of my own books, including Brooklyn Interiors (Rizzoli, 2016), Home from the Hardware Store (Clarkson Potter, 2012) and The Salvage Sisters (Artisan, 2004). The inimitable Dolly Parton, former White House pastry chef Bill Yosses, and Martha Stewart are among my clients, as well as couture cookie designer Patti Paige, international floral designer Nico de Swert and exacting upholsterer-to-the-interior design cognoscenti Matthew Haly. I am a contributing editor to Elle Décor, where my work has been published for the last 15 years. Throughout the year, I write pieces for Architectural Digest, T Magazine, House Beautiful, Veranda, Martha Stewart Living, Southern Living, Better Homes & Gardens and The New York Observer.
On top of meeting my deadlines, I am the family CEO, CFO, Chairman of the Ethics Committee, and Secretary of the Interior. Apart from feverishly trying to sate the appetites of two growing boys and a husband with a maddening metabolism, I am making lists of things to do, places to go and people to see, cooking dinner for friends and neighbors, and marveling at my great good fortune to have Brooklyn Bridge Park nearby.
