Ray Rojo

Originally from Mexico, Ray Rojo is a Los Angeles based drummer and educator. Ray's education as a drummer started in his hometown of Cuernavaca where he studied privately, then he moved to Mexico City to continue his studies at the college level, and finally he moved to Hollywood to earn his Bachelor of Music degree in Performance of Contemporary Music from Musicians Institute.

As a performer and Tama Drums Artist, Ray has toured throughout the United States, Europe, India, and Mexico. He is the founder of Red Owl Studio where he actively works as a session drummer and private instructor.

As an educator, Ray has worked for several years at Modern Music School teaching students ranging from three to 40 years old and at Musicians Institute as a private tutor and teacher's assistant. In January 2016, Ray joined the prestigious faculty at Cornel School of Contemporary Music and currently teaches Drum Reading and Contemporary Drum Styles.

Teaching for several years at such different levels was crucial in the development of Beginner Series: Drum Method. This series was developed for students who are new to the instrument as well as intermediate players who would like to strengthen their foundational skills.
