Bonnie Bahn

Bonnie Bahn grew up in Eastern Oregon, graduated from Oregon State University, raised her children on a ranch in Eastern Oregon, and lived the past 15 years in Arizona. The highlight of her life was her children: including two wonderful daughters with muscular dystrophy. Their disabilities led to their early deaths, but their lives taught her much about the magic and joys of living. She recently moved to Western Washington where her daughter and grandson live and which is closer to her son in Central Oregon.

Her disabled children were super heroes to her, and they inspired the Applevale Holidays series of children's books. Animals and birds have played an important role in her life. In addition to caring for the ranch animals, she spent eight years as a wildlife rehabilitator. Birds of Prey were her favorite. Her first middle grade book was inspired by a screech owl, Bumblefoot, and her latest book in the Applevale Holiday series, Saving Yankee and Doodle (4th of July), features a family of bald eagles. Other Applevale holiday books are Christmas Alligator (Christmas), Rainbow Raccoon (Easter) and Moon Balls (Halloween).

Her most recent book is a middle grade one set near Payson, AZ. FIRE Below Mystery Mountain tells the story of a family relocating from Phoenix to an isolated ranch. There is a wildfire near their new home. It takes the entire family; their dog, Brewer, and an eagle friend , Fire Eagle, to get them successfully through the fire. She is working on a new book in this series, Thunder on Mystery Mountain.
