I'm a chemist, an author, and most importantly the mother of two grown sons with autism. In the journey to raise them to adulthood, I've explored many paths, some more successful and productive than others. My most important tool for maintaining sanity has always been writing. This has changed in content and and direction over the years as I and my family have changed. I wrote my first GFCF cookbook in 2000 using my family and friends as guinea pigs. I submitted the actual food to the late Bernard Rimland Ph.D. who founded the Autism Society of America and directed the Autism Research Institute. He was impressed enough to write the introduction and distribute the book. He even, on only a verbal agreement, paid me royalties.
During the last decade most of my inventive efforts took place in the laboratory, resulting in multiple patents. Even while spending my time at the bench, my love of writing never flagged. A legal pad with a story in progress was always on my desk. In recent years I have indulged this passion more intensely. My latest cookbook builds on my original work, simplifying and streamlining recipes. I've also written two novels, both born of my experience in the autism world. The first, Singing the Solution, is serialized online at Channillo.com. The second, Dark Awakening, is avaiable now on Amazon for Kindle and in both hardcover and paperback. I'm ridiculously excited and already working on another novel, as well as an assortment of short stories. I truly hope to inform, uplift, and amuse. Love, Sally.
