John Wagner

John's father was in the military and he was an "Army Brat," living in Germany, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Florida before graduating from high school in Colorado. He received a B.A. from Colorado Western State University and an A.M. from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. He was a social worker and mental health administrator in New England and Wisconsin. He then attended the University of Wisconsin Law School, graduating with honors. After clerking for Judge Robert Sprecher of the US Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, he practiced law for over thirty years in Sacramento. He is now retired from the practice of law and a full time writer.

He and his wife, Bella, continue to live in Sacramento. The couple's three children and five grandchildren live nearby.
