Sebastien Gavillet

Sébastien Gavillet (born June 21, 1973) is best known as a Swiss Wine and Whisky consultant, winemaker, author and speaker. He is sometimes called "The nose".

Educated as an economist, in 1999 Gavillet changed career and became a wine consultant/nose for hire.

In 2006, as a wine writer, he created the first multilingual wine blog, winevibe.com which was translated simultaneously in 9 languages and read in over 180 countries. As Gavillet gained notoriety in the industry thru his writings, he started appearing on radio shows like the Splendid Table, hosting wine events speaking at major events. He is also recurring judge at the Mondial du Pinot and Mondial do Merlot.

As a professional taster he has sampled over 100,000 wine and spirits in his career.

Whisky

In 2008, Gavillet started working on Discovering and Mastering Single Malt Scotch Whisky book, where he spend 5 years researching whisky which was published in February 2013.

As a result of his Whisky expertise, in 2015, he was hired as the Head of Tasting Panel for the International Whisky Competition, where he designed and implemented a new whisky tasting methodology for the competition.

Bibliography

Gavillet is currently working with Dr. Jose Vouillamoz, co-author of Wine Grapes on a book about the “Petit” Arvine grape variety, which is native to Switzerland.
