Will Scott

Will began his writing career in politics, working in the press office of the European Commission in Brussels. Returning to the UK, he spent three years as a journalist in south London, contributing features and stories to both broadsheet and tabloid newspapers. Back in his home city of Newcastle, he continued his work in local and national media while developing television and film scripts.

His first published book, Pavel is a Geordie, is the autobiography of the late Pavel Srníček, former Czech Republic international goalkeeper and Newcastle United favourite. Tragically, Pavel died of a heart attack shortly after the book’s release.

Will’s debut novel, Scoop – The Truth Only Gets in the Way of a Good Story, is a sharp satire of the eccentric world of sports journalism. He also ghost-wrote the autobiography of former Premier League star and football manager Lee Clark, Black or White, No Grey Areas.

His most recent non-fiction work, The Entertainers 1992–97: Kevin Keegan’s Legacy, delves into one of Newcastle United’s most celebrated periods, chronicling the unforgettable years when the Magpies thrived under Keegan’s charismatic leadership.

In fiction, Will’s Cocktails in Bangkok is a collection of short stories set against Thailand’s neon-lit backdrop, where golfers, jet-lagged lovers, hustlers, ladyboys and dreamers collide. From a cosplaying femme fatale confronting the Russian mafia (Siberian Sting), to a washed-up journalist chasing corruption (Sukhumvit Sling), a bar-girl caddie teaching an amateur golfer the hazards of love (Zombie), and an Indian businessman learning that haggling with ladyboys in Pattaya is war, these stories blend humour, chaos and a touch of tragedy.

With sharp satire, dark humour and vivid storytelling, Will’s work delivers a potent mix of laughter, lust and heartbreak — where, as ever, everyone’s running a tab.
