Bryden Black and his wife, Cathy, have been married for 40 years. They have four children, two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. Their respective places of birth tell their own story: Harare x 2, Oxford, Melbourne; then Dublin, Christchurch, and Christchurch; and finally Melbourne x 2, and Christchurch x 1. Yes; it has been a peripatetic life together! Yet 2000 saw them eventually return to Christchurch, taking up full responsibility for their family farm in North Canterbury. All the while, Bryden has held a number of Anglican ministry positions, the latest being a part-time role as an assistant at St. Christopher’s, Avonhead, in Christchurch. From the outset of his ministry, his experience and understanding of the Christian Gospel has been imbued with an African sensibility, and so the ways of the Holy Spirit have always played a vital part. It is therefore not surprising that his model for the Trinity, which The Lion, the Dove & the Lamb elaborates, is constructed by means of a Spirit Christology. Then after two years folk reading LDL requested a resource to enable them to return to the Christian Scriptures, to read them in a trinitarian vein. This is what God's Address: Living with the triune God does. Tolle! Lege!
