Born in Midnapur, West Bengal, India I have one novel, one book of poems and five translated books. The novel 'Curse of Badam Pahar: Savages of the East' is about the migrated tribal population in southern part of Bengal and their struggle for identity. The novel has received wide acclaim for its in depth study of tribal life and the political scenario in the sixties of last century, which saw the rise of left extremist movement popularly called as 'Naxals'. I am writing a sequel to the novel covering the Seventies. I have translated novels of Orhan Pamuk, Imre Kerstz among others into Bangla. Several poems have been selected for various anthologies. Short stories in English and Bangla have been published in magazines of repute viz Indian Literature, Arambha etc.
