Kari Chaplin is the creator of Velvetate, a dark, addictive world where stories come alive through tangible items, recipes, and events all bleeding together into one immersive experience. She writes twisty, emotionally loaded fiction and not-so-sweet cookbooks that flirt with danger while you’re still licking the spoon.

She is also a mom, a chronic pain and migraine frequent flyer, and a professional-level procrastinator. If there’s a deadline, she will ignore it lovingly until the last possible second, whether it’s because of kids, pain, life chaos, or all three doing a group project from hell. And yet, somehow, she still slides in under the wire, hair on fire, manuscript in hand.

Kari built Velvetate in the margins of real life: car lines, flare-ups, midnight brainstorms, and that sacred hour when everyone finally stops needing something.
