I am an organisational psychologist and have written lots about people and their workplaces. A few years ago I published a book 'You Can Lead' for people new to managing a team. I'm going to update that soon so watch this space if you have landed a job as team leader and are feeling a bit clueless. You get thrown into the job and the boss expects you to get it right from day one. It rarely works like that. Being a team leader is hard and you really need some help. The advice I give is down to earth and practical - you can use it right away to build your skills and confidence. The picture on the right was taken at my book launch - it includes me, my publisher and book designer.

Recently, I have taken to writing crime fiction and short stories ending with a twist. Writing stuff about murderers and the police detectives who track them down is a good fit for a psychologist. My characters come across as real, with similar aspirations, hopes and fears as you and me. I also like a good plot and an unexpected ending. My first novel, 'The Body at Bones' - is full of plot twists and surprises that will keep you guessing. So if you are wondering why a person who wrote a self-help book about leadership is also into crime fiction, there's your answer.
