Lauren Flake is the author of Though I Walk through the Valley: 12 Days in Psalm 23, and the co-founder of Daughters of Dementia, an online community connecting female caregivers for hope and health. Her award-winning children’s books, Where Did My Sweet Grandma Go?: A Preschooler’s Guide to Losing A Loved One and its companion Where Did My Sweet Grandpa Go?, feature artwork by Lauren and her mother, Dixie Benton Stucky, who died of early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Lauren’s writing has been featured locally in Austin Woman and online at All Mom Does, Baby Chick, The Glorious Table, Her View From Home, HuffPost, The Mighty, and TODAY Parents.
She lives near Austin, Texas–where she was born and raised–with her husband, Travis, and their elementary school-age daughters, Samantha and Charlotte. A seventh generation Texan and avid Tex Mex enthusiast, Lauren thrives on putting her heart on paper through words and art, gardening with her girls, country western dancing with her hubby, consuming copious amounts of green tea and dark chocolate and collecting all things turquoise.
She loves honoring her late mom’s legacy through raising funds and awareness for her favorite causes–including Alzheimer’s Texas and United Way of Hays and Caldwell Counties. Lauren’s Texas Strong shirts raised nearly $150,000 for central Texas flood relief in 2015.
She is an active member of Aggie Women.
