Lisa joined Regatta Capital Group, LLC in November 2014, after her tenure with JP Morgan Securities LLC as a private client advisor in a retail banking location serving the Westchester community. Her practice included helping extended client families in five states. Lisa has a powerful sense of financial stewardship, which has grown out of her experience and passion for caring for people. Lisa began her career in 1984 as a paralegal in a prominent Philadelphia estate planning and tax law firm. After relocating to California and working in a boutique pension administration firm, she began her own third party pension administration firm in 1988. She joined Washington Mutual Bank (WaMu) in 2006 and was there to support the Westchester community through one of the worst financial crises in our history. She remained with the WaMu staff as they transitioned to new ownership by Chase. After the merger, she went on to join JP Morgan Securities. As a result of this combined experience, Lisa brings a unique, compassionate, yet focused and practical approach to financial planning.
Lisa is passionate about empowering women through all stages of life. Women continue to struggle to find themselves and define themselves as worthy. As consciousness awakens across personal and professional lives, there is more and more chatter about having money and what to DO with it, and little to no conversation about the individual. The tide of marketing is still heavily about the money and what to do with the money; it has no connection to WHO is behind the money. A lot of progress has been made in creating financial plans by creating “deep” relationships with advisors. To Lisa, these are better than nothing, but in the end, they are only an inkling of what is really required to connect with one’s inner value first. Women are absolutely artful and skillful at diversion, which has been required to survive and attempt to thrive in the evolving world toward equality. Lisa bravely stands beside women in such a way that women are free to explore their own inner landscape, define themselves to themselves, and create a plan that is not a “to do” but rather an extension of who they are.
Lisa is perceptive and sensitive to the transitioning that takes place between retirement and aging. She has the ability to smooth this bumpy road for her clients. She excels at beginning the conversations on the more difficult topics like dignity and death as facility diminishes. Her gift is her ability to instill grace and ease, while creating comfort with the uncomfortable. It is very common for clients to acknowledge her by thanking her for “saving my life.” Over the years, she has come to see the deep desire of humanity is that of connection. As traditional churches and communities are in the process of redefining themselves, this space of disconnection and isolation is only exacerbated by outliving spouses, children, friends, and extended family. The prized legacy of leaving an inheritance for future generations is critically endangered by rising health-care costs and having strangers take them through the end-of-life experiences.
Lisa grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania. She brings with her an earthy and hardworking farm ethic to her practice. She attributes her ability to connect closely and deeply with individuals to this foundational upbringing. Lisa is deeply committed to the leadership conversation and supports individuals into being leaders of their lives and finances.
Lisa is currently writing two books and looks forward to publishing them in 2015. Her second book has the working title Aging is a Team Sport and seeks to empower individuals in preparing for the retirement and aging processes so that they may create the life of their dreams.
Lisa lives in Los Angeles and has two college-aged children, Kyle and Sara. They are her inspiration and balance. Because of them, she is heavily involved in education and mentoring. She is an active member of the Westchester Rotary and has served as youth services director where she has mentored and overseen programs for St. Bernard’s High School Interact program, Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnet Interact program, and Loyola Marymount University Rotaract Program. She volunteers regularly to teach an empowering financial literacy program to schools and nonprofits, including places like Homeboy Industries. In her free time, she enjoys painting, writing, yoga, the arts, and other creative pursuits. She enjoys the California Central Coast and travels there routinely to renew and refresh herself.
