Rev Larry W Weidner

Larry W. Weidner was born in Columbus, Wisconsin in 1950. He

is the middle child of five. He received his associate degree in Floral

Design in 1971 from Kenosha Technical Institute. In the fall of 1971

he moved to Phoenix, Arizona and worked as a floral designer. In 1974

he entered the seminary receiving his BA in Philosophy in 1976. In

1980 he received his Master of Divinity and was ordained a Roman

Catholic Priest.

As Associate Pastor he was a member and chairman of the Diocesan

Vocation Board. In 1999 he wrote an article on vocations to the priesthood

that was published in the National Catholic Reporter.

He facilitated several workshops on giving high school retreats,

and in 1983, compiled a manual on high school retreats for youth

ministers.

During his pastorates, he was Vicar Forane (the Bishop representative)

of the northern Arizona Vicariate and the Phoenix Metropolitan

Vicariate and a former member of the Priests’ Assurance Association

(the Priest’s Retirement Planning Board). He served as a member of the

Diocesan Building Committee and the Vicar of Diocesan Buildings

and Properties.

He served as pastor of St. Joseph’s parish in Williams, AZ from

1987 to 1989. He was appointed Pastor of St. Joan of Arc Parish in

Phoenix in1989 to 2008, preaching to over three thousand people each

week-end.

In 2009 he began his Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training

at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Glendale, AZ. That same

year joined the staff at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, AZ. as

Chaplain Supervisor. In 2013 Fr. Larry became a board certified chaplain

through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC).

Chaplain Larry retired in June of 2015. He currently ministers on the Navajo Reservation

and resides with his Havanese, Baxter in Show Low, AZ.

This is his first book.
