After receiving. degree in Electrical Engineering, I began a 43-year career in 1970 in the Bell System at the Western Electric Hawthorne Works in Chicago, Illinois. Over the years and across several companies, I advanced in position from Associate Engineer, to Planning Engineer, then Senior Engineer at Western Electric. At Lucent Technologies I went from Member of the Technical Staff to Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff, and finally to Chief Architect for Lucent Public Safety Systems. At the Intrado Corporation, I began my career as Vice President of Advanced Technologies, then Vice President for Software Engineering, and finally Senior Technical Officer, the position from which I retired in 2013. I've been awarded nine patents and am considered one of the nation's experts on the 9-1-1 system in the United States. On retirement, I was honored by the Congress of the United States and the Governor of Colorado for my contributions to the 9-1-1 system.

After retirement I divide my time between my family, woodworking, and writing.
