I was born and raised in the American Southwest. I've lived on three different continents, and love learning about languages and cultures. I've always loved reading and coming up with stories about how things should be, even if it's not "possible." My inspiration comes from myriad sources, but trying to see the possibilities in things is definitely one of them.

Things I love to read:

Fantasy/Sci Fi

Mysteries

Short stories

Fairy/Folk Tales from all over the world

Classic Literature

Poetry

Yeah, okay, pretty much anything except graphic horror and regency romance capture my imagination.

One thing that has really stuck with me is how the written word has the ability to shape your life. My mom always read a variety of bedtime stories (some international) to us growing up and my dad would read some of the classics to us (when he had time), like the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He would read each character in a different voice and represent them as individuals. We got to ask questions and discuss what happened in the story as well as talk about what made it right or wrong. We were also encouraged to read on our own; books were always treasured gifts.

Because of these things, I think that my already active imagination grew leaps and bounds. Honestly, I believe that who I am today is in large part thanks to what I've read over the years. I feel that I am more inclined to understand and develop an appreciation of other cultures and that I can work with people in general because I realize that though we aren't the same, we all have something wonderful we can offer.
