William Mougayar

William Mougayar is a globally recognized blockchain thinker, investor, and author with over four decades of experience across technology, markets, and strategy. He is the author of The Business Blockchain (Wiley, 2016), one of the earliest and most respected business books on blockchain technology, which has been translated into ten languages.

Mougayar was among the first to explain Ethereum in business terms, publishing its earliest institutional analysis on the Ethereum Foundation’s blog in 2015. Since then, he has advised, invested in, and closely followed Ethereum’s evolution as a foundational layer for finance, markets, and digital trust.

Known for his analytical rigor and long-term perspective, Mougayar bridges crypto-native thinking and institutional understanding, helping leaders make sense of complex decentralized systems without hype or speculation.

William previously held senior positions at Hewlett-Packard, Cognizant, and AberdeenGroup, and founded 3 startups. His alma maters include the University of Washington, the University of British Columbia, and the Ivey Business School.
