Harald Mehling is known worldwide as author of “Heat and cold storage with PCM – An up to date introduction into basics and applications” (Springer, 2008).

He works independent, as a Consultant (R&D), Author, and Lecturer. With his books, he tries to give introductions with good explanations and examples, and a clearly structured overview. His latest book “Technologies of energy conversion, storage, and transport – A brief introduction” describes energy technology on a very basic level, to be suitable even for education at high school. Altogether, he is author of more than 80 publications, including books and book chapters.

Harald Mehling studied physics at the universities of Würzburg (Germany) and Buffalo (USA), and already started to work on Thermal Analysis of materials in his Diploma and PhD thesis. After finishing his PhD, he worked for 15 years in R&D at the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research (ZAE Bayern) in Würzburg and in Garching, as group leader and as senior scientist, mainly on Thermal Analysis and Thermal Energy Storage. In parallel, he started teaching, e.g. as guest professor, and writing books. In 2013, having 20 years of experience in R&D regarding Thermal Analysis and Thermal Energy Storage, covering materials to applications, he started to work independent, as a Consultant (R&D), Author, and Lecturer.
