Skeeter Wilson was born in Kenya, along the edge of the Gikuyu highlands, during the last years of colonialism. The son of American missionaries, he witnessed Kenya’s birth pangs as it gained a semblance of independence. He spent his formative years divided between his Gikuyu friends and the children of missionaries at an American-curriculum boarding school
Wilson earned his postgraduate African History and Creative Writing degrees while doing field research in the highlands of Kenya where he grew up.
His published works include Worthless People, Crossing Rivers, and Escape from Stupid. He has published short stories in several traditional and online magazines.
Take Nothing With You is Wilson’s debut nonfiction work.
Wilson now lives in Auburn, Washington, with his wife Jacque. Together they host guests in their treehouse, put on small writers conferences, and host an annual event called the Goat N’ Guzzle, which focuses on cuisine from various cultures in Africa.
The biggest miracle in Skeeter Wilson’s life has been his marriage and journey of adventures with Jacque.
