Tim Highfield

Tim Highfield is Lecturer in Digital Media and Society at the University of Sheffield. Previously, he was Assistant Professor in New Media at the University of Amsterdam, and Vice-Chancellor's Research Fellow and a member of the Digital Media Research Centre at Queensland University of Technology.

He researches the everyday practices and cultures of digital media from social, political, temporal, and visual perspectives. His first book was 'Social Media and Everyday Politics' (Polity, 2016); his next book is 'Instagram: Visual social media cultures' (Polity, 2019), co-authored with Tama Leaver and Crystal Abidin.
