Heather Douglas was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, more specifically Astoria, Oregon. As a writer and educator, she has been grateful to travel and teach in South Korea for three years as well as other countries, but the oldest settlement West of the Rockies will always remain home.
Well accustomed to rain, slugs and rubber boots, she created "That's So Pacific Northwest Coloring Book: 25 Whimsical Illustrations to Color and Enjoy" to share the things that are (in her eyes) very Pacific Northwest. Her second book: "My Astoria East to West Coloring Book" is a tribute to Astoria and her favorite places.
While she works in her home studio overlooking the mighty Columbia River, she can't help but hear the "arrrp, aarrp" of hundreds of sea lions, look up from her illustrations to watch the bar pilots guide ocean going ships over the river and listen for the frequent ding ding of The Old 300: The Astoria Riverfront Trolley.
