Robert Kerbeck

Based on his short stories, twelve of which have been published in the last year, Robert was selected for mentorship by the managing editor of Tin House, Cheston Knapp. His non-fiction piece about O.J. Simpson was featured on Narratively. Robert’s short fiction has most recently appeared in Lowestoft Chronicle, Serving House Literary, Cream City Review, and Cortland Review with stories forthcoming in Word Riot, Gargoyle, and the MacGuffin. He is the winner of the 2016 upstreet short fiction scholarship and will work with Steve Almond at this summer’s VCFA Writer’s conference. He also attended both the 2015 Tin House and Bread Loaf conferences.

A member of the Actors Studio, Robert has worked extensively in theater, film, and television, appearing in lead roles in major shows and earning several awards, including an L.A. Weekly award and a Drama-Logue award. He founded the Malibu Writers Circle (MWC) to give Los Angeles-based writers a constructive place to work on their material while enjoying an ocean view. He has attended numerous writing workshops at the University of Iowa and is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
