Dr. Guili Zhang, President and Professor
Dr. Guili Zhang is President of the American Evaluation Association and Professor at East Carolina University. She previously served for seven years as Department Chair of Special Education, Foundations, and Research at ECU.
She holds a Ph.D. in Research & Evaluation Methodology from the University of Florida and completed postdoctoral training in statistical analysis of large-scale data at Stanford University.
A recipient of numerous prestigious national and international awards—including the Frontiers in Education Benjamin J. Dasher Best Paper Award, the American Society for Engineering Education Best Paper Award, the Edward C. Pomeroy Award from AACTE, and recognition as an Outstanding Professor and Researcher by the U.S. government—Dr. Zhang has also authored widely recognized books such as The CIPP Evaluation Model: How to Evaluate for Improvement and Accountability.
Dr. Zhang has served in leadership roles across multiple national organizations, including the AEA Board of Directors, several AEA Topical Interest Groups, and the AERA Measurement and Research Methodology Division, as well as on the Editorial Advisory Board of the American Journal of Evaluation.
Nationally and internationally recognized as a scholar, evaluator, and education leader, she has published over 100 journal articles, six books, 25 book chapters, and delivered more than 200 conference presentations and public speeches. She has also directed the evaluation of more than 35 federally funded and national programs advancing education.
