Samuel Joeckel

A Las Vegas native, Samuel Joeckel is Professor of English at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. Prior to living in Florida, he lived with his wife Tory in southern California, where he earned a Ph.D. in English from Claremont Graduate University. He is the author of The C.S. Lewis Phenomenon (Mercer UP, 2013) as well numerous academic articles.

His life orbits around three people: his wife and two children. They enjoy traveling the world, listening to music, watching films, and making each other laugh. Joeckel has played guitar most of his life and enjoys going to gigs. Some highlights: U2 during their 1987 Joshua Tree tour; Jane's Addiction at the first-ever Lollapalooza Festival in San Diego; Wilco during their A Ghost Is Born tour; Stone Roses reunion show in 2012 in Manchester UK; James in 2013 in London. He is a serious athlete, competing primarily in mountain-bike races but also running events and duathlons.
