Simon Hawkins

Simon Hawkins is an award-winning songwriter, producer and Amazon bestselling author based on the south coast of England. His books help songwriters develop stronger lyrics, find fresh inspiration and make more room for writing.

Simon’s love of music began when he started playing the organ at his church at the age of twelve. For many years, he combined songwriting with an international career that took him and his family around the world. In 2004, he became a full-time songwriter and went on to sign with Universal Music Publishing in Nashville.

His first book, Song Maps—A New System to Write Your Best Lyrics, became an Amazon No. 1 bestseller following its release in 2016. He followed it with another No. 1 bestseller, The Organized Songwriter—How to Create Space to Write Your Best Songs, sharing practical ways to organise ideas, build productive writing habits and make the most of co-writing.

His new book, Advanced Song Maps—30 New Song Maps to Write Your Best Lyrics, builds on the original system with thirty fresh approaches to developing a lyric. Drawing on successful songs across eighteen genres, it helps writers explore new possibilities and give each song a clear sense of direction.

Through his books, workshops and Simon on Songs newsletter, Simon shares the tools and discoveries that continue to shape his own writing. His aim is simple: to help you find what you want to say—and write your best songs.
