Dr. Chase Young is an associate professor in the department of Language, Literacy and Special Populations at Sam Houston State University. Dr. Young received his Ph.D. in Reading Education from the University of North Texas. Previously, he was the Silverman Endowed Chair in Literacy at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. Prior to entering higher education, he taught in the primary grades and served as an elementary reading specialist.
Dr. Young’s primary research interests include reading fluency, supporting struggling readers, and integrating technology in elementary literacy instruction. In 2014, the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers selected him to receive the Jerry Johns Promising Researcher Award. His research has appeared in such journals as the Journal of Educational Research, Reading Teacher, and Literacy Research and Instruction.
