Born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Oakland and the East Bay, Jon's hilarious, nonfiction humor style was honed by creatively sourcing humor through numerous adversities. He received his M.A. from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and began publishing personal humor essays shortly thereafter. He later created the State of Anxiety website (www.StateofAnxiety.com) as a means of helping others who struggle with anxiety, or for whom anxiety becomes an acute side effect of a life event. Jon's entry into the self-help humor genre was happenstance and began with his blog chronicles of navigating an anxious life. His relatable irreverence quickly resonated with readers. He soon discovered an overwhelming need to provide more. More disruptive bibliotherapy. More humor. And more familiarity related to the visceral pain associated with life adversities and a world seemingly unhinged. A highlight of Jon's prose is his uniquely comical, self-deprecating voice not read elsewhere. In addition to his books, Jon writes the only self-help humor column at Psychology Today online. Jon currently splits his time between Northern and Southern California.
