Born in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Geoff Dakin has spent more than three decades helping people solve stubborn muscle and joint pain problems—especially chronic back pain—by addressing the real driver most approaches miss: postural imbalance and whole-body asymmetry.
Geoff earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of British Columbia (1987) and graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver (1989). Early in his career, he recognized a consistent pattern: when posture and movement are crooked, pain tends to be persistent—and when alignment improves, results tend to last. That discovery became the foundation of his life’s work.
A past President of the Massage Therapists’ Association of British Columbia, Geoff also served as a therapist for the Vancouver Canucks during the 1991–92 season—among the first massage therapists in the NHL to travel with his team.
Geoff is a vocal advocate of collaborative, interdisciplinary care and has worked closely with dentists, chiropractors, physicians, and other specialists across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Over the years, he has developed particular respect for the NUCCA chiropractic community, based on both clinical experience and personal outcomes.
Geoff is the creator of The Alignment First Protocol—a practical, floor-based corrective exercise system designed to reduce asymmetry, improve alignment, and restore efficient movement. His Amazon bestselling book, The Body Mechanic’s Handbook, teaches readers how to become their own “body mechanic” using this step-by-step system, and it is also available in Spanish. The second edition makes the process even more accessible, empowering readers to take control of their recovery at home—often reducing reliance on medications, injections, and unnecessary procedures.
Geoff is also a co-author of The Biomechanical Brain: Rewiring Health from Teeth to Toes, a new release that expands the conversation beyond local symptoms and into whole-body systems—showing how the pelvis, upper neck, breath, and bite interact to shape posture, pain, and performance.
Geoff lives in Calgary, Alberta, with his wife, Claudia, and their son, Jack. He maintains a private practice, conducts research, and teaches massage therapists and other health professionals how to apply the Alignment First Protocol to achieve more durable clinical outcomes.
