Barry was born in and working as an urban minister for the United Church of Canada in Vancouver, BC; ... lived, worked, and studied in 5 other cities -- degrees related to urban theology, social ethics, and biography-as-theology. A would-be academic, new monastic, and/or community organizer - also, a poet via haiku's, hitch-hiker, train traveler, and 12-step student. Alas, a near workaholic who is dedicated to pressing until the last breath, with help from friends, strangers, and an odd enemy, all along the way. In addition to creating and co-editing The Word on the Street: Invitation to Community Ministry in Canada, Barry has written (2020) A Prophetic-Public Witness: Dynamics, Challenges, and Ambiguities of "Success" in Urban and Community Ministries and reviews current books for Reading Religion of the AAR (and a member of the Pacific Northwest Region of the American Academy of Religion).
