Jason Griffith

Jason Griffith is a Teaching Associate and PhD Student (English Education) at Arizona State University. A National Board Certified Teacher and Fellow of the National Writing Project, Jason taught middle school and high school English for 12 years in Carlisle, PA. In 2012, Jason received NCTE’s Edwin A. Hoey Award for Outstanding Middle Level Educator, and he currently serves on NCTE’s Middle Level Section Steering Committee.

Jason has presented at numerous national and regional conferences, and his work has been published in the Language Arts Journal of Michigan as well as collected volumes published by the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) and Rowman & Littlefield. Jason also has written for Hippocampus Magazine, the Nerdy Book Club, Talking Writing, and the Pennsylvania Council of the Teachers of English Language Arts (PCTELA) blog. His first book From Me to We: Using Narrative Nonfiction to Broaden Student Perspectives will be published in fall 2016 by Routledge Eye on Education.

Jason’s research interests include English Education, Secondary Writing Instruction, Narrative/Creative/Literary Nonfiction, Music in the English Language Arts, Student Participatory Media, and Contemplative Pedagogy.
