Rick Marcum

Rick was born in 1948 in Abilene, Texas to a WWII soldier and his British war bride. Rick's father was a football coach, thus football was mandatory. Not always enamored with the sport, Rick did benefit from a football scholarship to Texas Tech where he earned a finance degree.

As a government liaison for 22 years, Rick was involved in economic initiatives of DOD in Florida, and DOE, in New Mexico. One of his grants with the National Lab in Los Alamos New Mexico, involved an encounter with an eccentric scientist who claimed to have devised an artificial intelligence algorithm. This spurred Rick’s inspiration for his 2nd novel, WEST TEXAS CRUDE.

Rick’s first novel, MESSAGE OF THE LOCUST, was the result of his days as a scuba instructor and operator in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He is currently working on his third fiction thriller regarding German submarine activity in the Gulf of Mexico just prior to the beginning of WWII.

Rick enjoys sunsets from his deck overlooking a beautiful bayou in Panama City, Florida with a gin martini, hoping to spot the occasional dolphin fin breaking the water's surface. Rick, and his wife, Johnene, are driven to traveling the world. Rick's favorite quote is, "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
