George was born in 1932, Raised in Teaneck, NJ. Upon graduation from Teaneck HS in 1951 enlisted in USAF 1951 during the Korean War. Honorably discharged in 1955. Having moved to Berkeley Heights, NJ upon graduation from Teaneck HS and then after being discharged from USAF at the end of the war, joined the Berkeley Hts, Police Department in 1955. In 1960 was promoted to Detective. In 1961 was Promoted to Sergeant. In 1965 attended FBI National Academy, 76th Session. Started college in 1966 at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. Graduated in 1970 with AS Police Science. In 1968 was selected by NJ Police Training Commission as an Instructor in Police Supervision to all ranks from Sergeant to Chief of Police in New Jersey. Traveled the State with three other instructors teaching Police Supervision I and II. In 1968 was selected by the State Law Enforcement Planning Agency (SLEPA) as the sole Municipal Police Representative, according to the federal guidelines for the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 as a Chief Program Analyst. Targeted responsibilities included programs for all municipal police, Sheriffs, and all law enforcement other than State agencies. The position included drafting, creating, planning, implementing, directing, and auditing all police programs in the Prevention, Detection, and Apprehension of Criminals Local Police Agencies section of the State criminal justice plan. While still with SLEPA, I conceptualized and lead to completion the first computer-driven, microfilm based, single fingerprint system called Project DATUM (Detection and Apprehension Through the Use of Microfilm). This was the first functioning computer automated single fingerprint system in the world(1972). I arranged to have it installed in the seven major cities of New Jersey and then retired. An original system is still on display at Scotland Yard, England.
I retired in 1973 and moved to Vermont and opened what became a prize-winning restaurant named Benner's Homestead, after my partner Bob Benner. Bob's brother Larry was a fellow police officer in BH. 1977 sold our share in the restaurant to our partner and moved back to NJ. Along with my former partner in SLEPA, Bill Finkel, formed a consulting firm. Consulted with several municipalities and local police departments.
Along the way, I had a "Come to Jesus" meeting and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and was Born Again. I received a calling from the Lord to preach and teach the Gospel. The Lord had gifted me with a very rapid understanding of the Bible and along with my already professionally developed gift of teaching, formed a church with three other Elders, named Cape Christian Fellowship. I left that church and formed His Way Christian Fellowship. In 1994 my number two son Bob called me to assist him in managing a lodge in Alaska he had bought named Gwin's Lodge on the Sterling Highway in Cooper Landing. We moved to Alaska in January of 1995.
For the next 16 years, my wife and I dedicated all our time to making Gwins Lodge the best restaurant in Alaska. We won several First Prizes on Northern Kenai Peninsula awards. In 2010 the restaurant was sold to Keith Mantee who is a personal friend and brother in the Lord.
In 1997 I joined the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF) and over the next twenty years rose to the permanent rank of Lt Colonel (AK). I am still active as a Senior Instructor. The ASDF is the organized official militia of Alaska as described in the Second Amendment to the US Constitutions and Article 1 Section 19 of the Alaska Constitution.
Along the way, I wrote the book, Alaska's Rebellion, Operation Polaris, The Second Civil War about Alaska "withdrawing" from the Union because of the continuous and burdensome overreach of the federal government. The book is classified as a "Plausible Fantasy", meaning that it is basically fiction but could possibly happen.
The book is timely and also tells a lot about Alaska that most people do not know and about a fictional American government oppressing the State of Alaska with arbitrary regulations that suppress Alaska's exploitation of its natural resources thereby crippling the economy and guaranteeing the bankruptcy of the State.
