Don Nolte grew up in Pennsylvania, studied German Literature at Princeton University, and then studied law at Dickinson School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Dickinson Law Review and recipient of top honors.
Don then served with the Air Force for 42 years (26 active duty then civil service) with assignments in Germany, California, New Hampshire, Texas and Alabama. He taught college courses in law and U.S. history.
After rowing competitively in Texas and Germany, Don founded a rowing club and coached crew in Alabama. He organized and played tuba with brass quintets in Alabama and New Hampshire.
Don's final AF assignment was as a research attorney, operating a computerized legal research system at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. He became actively involved in local politics and wrote the book Heartlessness of Dixie (2016) discussing Alabama issues.
