Travis E. Hughes

Travis E. Hughes (1973-present) was born in Joplin Missouri and grew up in neighboring Neosho Missouri. He is the oldest of four boys. In high school his English teacher encouraged him to pursue his writing career, setting aside a period for him to work on his first attempt at a novel in the writing lab. In college he joined a television show called Pirates of the Air. Segments from their sketch comedy show was sent to a film festival in Kansas City, where they took first and third prizes. There he was discovered by a film producer who later took his screenplay to Fox Searchlight. While the screenplay never saw the screen, it began his career in screenwriting. Soon after he moved from southwest Missouri to Chicago, where he studied at the renowned Second City Comedy school. This led to a stint in the Chicago theater scene, which culminated in a stage play produced that starred his youngest brother. He married a woman from the southwest suburbs of Chicago and together they had three children; twin girls and a son. He now coaches soccer. He enjoys working with children and is a substitute teacher. Frustrated with Hollywood he turned his creative attention to the novel.
