Robert Crouch

Robert writes thoughtful, character-led crime fiction set in the villages and rolling hills of the South Downs.

The ten-book Downland Murder Mystery series features Kent Fisher, an environmental health officer whose ruthless pursuit of justice draws him into murder. He’s an ordinary man, who solves complex murders with humour, determination, and his faithful West Highland White Terrier, Columbo.

The series, which focuses on modern lives, contemporary themes, and the dark secrets within villages, should appeal to readers who enjoy the novels of Elly Griffiths, Sue Grafton, Colin Dexter, and Agatha Christie.

Before writing full time, Robert spent forty years as an environmental health officer, investigating fatal accidents, hygiene breaches and infectious disease outbreaks. These experiences lend authenticity to his fiction, along with the warmth and wit provided by many memorable moments.

When he's not writing, you might find him with a camera in his hand, ready to capture the unique beauty, scenery, and wildlife of the South Downs and its stunning coastline.
